Written Answers. - Employment Equality Act.
The Employment Equality Act, 1998, was signed into law last year. Work is on schedule in my Department to put in place the infrastructure for equality provided in the Act, namely the Equality Authority and the office of Director of Equality Investigations. Premises accessible to people with disabilities are in the process of being acquired and arrangements to put in place the staffing and other resource requirements in the new organisations are in train.
I cannot yet be firm about the timescale for initiating the new arrangements but I expect to be in a position to begin the process before the middle of the year.
