Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Animal Welfare Societies.

John Bruton

Ceist:

816 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has resolved the long standing financial problem experienced by the Meath Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; if he will pay the outstanding moneys owed to the society; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1490/99]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda file on the matter has been forwarded to the Chief State Solicitor's Office for submission to the Attorney General for his directions. The Garda authorities are awaiting the Chief State Solicitor's advice. The question of payment will be considered when this advice is to hand.

I will keep the Deputy informed of developments in this case.
