Ceist:

882 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if Killala national school, County Mayo, shares the services of a remedial teacher with the national schools at Ballycastle, Belderrig, Creevagh, Banagher, Newtownwhite, Cullens or Moygownagh. [28379/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 864, 881 and 882 together.

I recently announced a major initiative to tackle education disadvantage at all levels. As part of this initiative, I intend that a remedial teacher service will be available to all primary schools, including the schools in question, with effect from September 1999. Mainstream national schools with a pupil-teacher ratio of below 10:1, and which currently have no service, may apply for a service where they can demonstrate the particular needs of their pupils.
