979 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the application by Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar, County Westmeath for an extension to accommodate a significant increase in student numbers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1570/99]
A report covering various solutions for the provision of additional accommodation was forwarded to my Department for consideration. These proposals were not regarded as viable by my Department's technical staff. The school authority has recently submitted another option and my Department has sought additional information from the school authority in relation to this option. Schedules of accomodation have also been issued to the school authority in order that architectural planning can commence as soon as a satisfactory solution had been achieved.
