255 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the rate of payment per acre on 80 acres of bog within a special area of conservation and a natural heritage area; the schedule of payment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3213/99]
I recently announced cessation arrangements, including compensation, for turf cutting in raised bog special areas of conservation. I am sending a copy of my statement to the Deputy and would urge affected landowners or cutters to contact local officials of Dúchas, the heritage service of my Department, who will be pleased to discuss matters with them.
