258 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the plans, if any, she has to amend existing legislation to allow political parties to advertise on local radio in view of the importance of local radio stations to the communities they represent and service; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I have no plans at present to introduce amending legislation to alter the prohibition on the broadcasting by local radio stations of advertisements which are directed towards a political end, contained in section 10(3) of the Radio and Television Act, 1988.
