Vol. 500 No. 1

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

143 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a grant for a farm roadway will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3423/99]

The grant in this case will be paid within the next three to four weeks.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

144 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the assistance, if any, his Department can give to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow who is experiencing severe difficulties due to the fodder crisis; if his Department will make immediate contact with this person to outline the assistance available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3425/99]

In order to qualify under the 1998 winter fodder scheme a producer must have a herd number in one of the designated DEDs. The DEDs were designated on the basis of an examination by Teagasc of areas most affected by the bad weather.

As the person named did not have a herd number in one of the designated DEDs she was not entitled to payment under the 1998 winter fodder package.

As the Deputy is aware a new fodder scheme has now been agreed by the Government, details of which are being finalised and will be announced shortly.
