My Department is currently in discussion with representatives of the pig sector to consider the options for introducing a programme for the eradication of Aujeszky's disease. These discussions will be progressed over coming months with the objective of identifying a programme which is feasible, apportions respective responsibilities and holds the propect of success within a reasonable timeframe. It is important to note that the success of any such programme will require the active and sustained commitment of all producers within the sector.
