Vol. 501 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ministerial Staff.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

86 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the name of the special adviser appointed by the Minister of State, Deputy Jacob; the salary involved; when the person was appointed; when the person's contract is due to end; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5464/99]

I have not appointed a special adviser.

Following the recent resignation of Mr. John Mullen as my personal secretary, I have appointed Mr. Tony Murphy to the post with effect from 18 January 1999 at an annual cost of £25,450 – including employers' PRSI.

The terms of his contract are currently being finalised with the Department of Finance but as regards duration it cannot extend beyond my own tenure in my present office.
