Vol. 501 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

105 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the position in relation to an area aid payment for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5487/99]

An area aid application form was received from the person named and there appeared to be an overclaim on the application. Payments in respect of cattle and sheep applications issued based on an area reduced due to the overclaim. Maps issued to the applicant showing the area digitised, and requesting the applicant to make any necessary adjustments to the maps. These maps have now been returned to my Department and have been finalised. The apparent overclaim has been resolved and any outstanding payments due will issue as soon as possible.

John Ellis

Ceist:

106 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if headage suckler grants due to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo will be made. [5490/99]

There was a problem with a parcel of land on the area aid application of the person concerned. This has been resolved and any headage payments due will issue as soon as possible.

John Ellis

Ceist:

107 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if payment of 1997 and 1998 suckler premia will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo. [5491/99]

The person named applied for 20 suckler cows under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme. He was not the registered owner of the herd number quoted. A letter issued to the person named regarding this on 17 September 1997 and again on 19 March 1998. No response was received. As he has now become a registered herdowner and holds a suckler cow quota of 14.9 rights arrangements are being made to pay the person named the 1997 suckler cow premium on 14.9 suckler cows.

The person named applied for 25 suckler cows under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme. On review, and by reference to the fact that the applicant has a suckler cow quota of 14.9 rights he is entitled to full payment on 14.9 cows. Arrangements are now being made to pay the person named the 1998 suckler cow premium.

Ceist:

108 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a REP scheme payment will be made to a person (details supplied); the reason for the delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5493/99]

This case was chosen at random for a compliance inspection. On inspection, a number of issues have arisen which are currently being examined by my Department.

No payment can issue until these matters have been satisfactorily resolved.

Ceist:

109 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a REP scheme payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [5494/99]

This case was chosen at random for a compliance inspection. On inspection, a number of issues have arisen. An inspector from my Department visited the person named on 19 January last and some further documentation was requested. The documentation has not been received to date.

No payment can issue until the matters have been satisfactorily resolved.

John Perry

Ceist:

110 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a fodder payment will be made to a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5495/99]

My Department is currently finalising arrangements for the distribution of aid under the 1999 winter fodder scheme. The person named will be considered for assistance under the new measure.

John Perry

Ceist:

111 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if 1998 cattle headage will be released for a person (details supplied) in view of the fact he has submitted all the legal documentation for the land parcel which he purchased; if his area aid problems will be rectified immediately; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5496/99]

There was a problem on the area aid application of the person named because a parcel being claimed by this person was also being claimed by other herdowners. The people concerned were contacted requesting documentation to support their claims on the parcel. The area aid application for the person concerned has now been finalised and any outstanding payments due will issue as soon as possible.

John Perry

Ceist:

112 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if area aid problems will be immediately resolved for a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; if 1998 cattle headage and a beef premium will be released; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5497/99]

There was a problem with a parcel of land on the area aid application of the person concerned. This has been resolved and any headage and premia payments due will issue as soon as possible.

Billy Timmins

Ceist:

113 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow will be paid a 1998 ewe premium and sheep headage. [5498/99]

The regulation authorising payment of the final instalment of the 1998 ewe premium scheme was published on 22 February in Brussels and payment now due to the person named will be issued by the end of the week. Under the first and second advances payments were made on the 19 June 1998 and 22 October 1998, respectively.

Under the 1998 sheep headage scheme the person named applied for payment in respect of 50 breeding ewes. However, as he did not declare any mountain grazings on his 1998 area aid application he is not eligible for payment under the scheme.
