I can confirm to the Deputy that my Department is fully supportive of the appointment of a chief executive officer by County Longford VEC. I expect that the VEC, in the normal way, will shortly request the Local Appointments Commission to arrange for the necessary competitive selection process. I should add that my Department will be in further contact with the VEC in the matter.
