Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

182 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Defence if he will provide a breakdown of all national lottery funding allocated by his Department in 1998; the individual bodies to which funds were allocated; the amount in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7919/99]

In 1998 the Irish Red Cross Society, Coiste an Asgard, operation of sail training schemes, and the Army Equitation School were funded by national lottery moneys received by my Department. The funding was allocated by way of grants-in-aid to the Irish Red Cross Society and Coiste an Asgard and through the normal appropriations process in the case of the Army Equitation School.

Details of moneys disbursed to these organisations in 1998 are as follows: Army Equitation School, £543,000; Irish Red Cross Society, £535,000; Coiste an Asgard, £350,000.

The Army Equitation School and the Irish Red Cross Society will be Exchequer funded in 1999.
