Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

Ceist:

185 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Defence the number of personnel with his Department working on securing year 2000 compliance within his Department and the bodies under its aegis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8239/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 184 and 185 together.

I am advised by my Department and the military authorities that good progress has been made towards achieving full year 2000 compliance and that all critical systems will be compliant on time.

The total number of personnel, civil and military on securing year 2000 compliance has varied from time to time, depending on compliance projects' workload and other IT and telecommunications workloads. The maximum number engaged on compliance work would be about 160.
