Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

201 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason his Department discriminates and penalises against partnerships in farming; if it is his Department or European legislation that disallows partnership in REP scheme applications; if he will distinguish between partnership and common management schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7764/99]

Where two or more farmers are farming in partnership it is open to them to make a joint application to join the REP scheme provided that all the land farmed is declared as one farming unit for the purpose of drawing down payment under the scheme.
