Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Beverley Flynn

Ceist:

281 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Finance if spoil, which runs along channel C 119 cleaned recently by the Office of Public Works, can be levelled in view of the fact it has resulted in a significant reduction of available farm land for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [7946/99]

The spoil was deposited on the lands of the person in question during the works phase of the Moy catchment drainage scheme in 1962 and not during the recent maintenance works. The Office of Public Works' maintenance programme does not allow for the cost of levelling old spoil heaps. The Office of Public Works would have no objection to the person in question spreading the spoil heaps himself.
