Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Mental Health Services.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

335 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 104 of 18 February 1999, the case will be reviewed for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who has had an unsatisfactory outcome regarding his complaint at the treatment he received from doctors while his wife was in hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7851/99]

I can confirm to the Deputy that the complaints of the person referred to in the question have been fully investigated by the assistant inspector of mental hospitals. The assistant inspector is satisfied that the consultant psychiatrist in charge of his wife's care made every effort to meet with the person in question. The consultant recently wrote to the person concerned informing him that he is welcome to attend, together with his wife, at the consultant's out-patient clinic any time that his wife has an appointment.
