Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

394 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if Kerry County Council has responded to his Department's Circular letter L9/98 of 22 October 1998 regarding the prioritisation of capital works in the areas of group water and sewerage schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7571/99]

The terms of Circular L9/98 of 22 October 1998 require local authorities to submit their assessment of needs and a prioritised list of capital projects for water and waste water infrastructure before the end of June 1999. Kerry County Council's assessment has not yet been received. It might be noted that prior to submitting the assessment, local authorities have been requested to have regard to the views of the public, based on a published draft document, and to have the draft considered by the appropriate strategic policy committee.
