Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Local Government Audit Service.

Joe Higgins

Ceist:

403 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide a schedule for each of the accounting years 1992 to 1997 in respect of each public body or local authority for which a local government auditor is appointed, specifying the name of the auditor or firm of auditors, the professional qualification of the auditor, the date of the audits, the duration and man-hours of the audits, fees fixed by him in respect of audits, fees paid for each audit, any charge or surcharge raised by an auditor, copies of the reason stated by an auditor for such charge or surcharge, copies of any appeals to him in the calendar years 1988 to 1990 to remit any charge or surcharge arising from a decision of a local government auditor or a confirmation by the High Court and copies of his decision in respect of any such appeal. [7689/99]

The information sought is not readily available and its compilation would involve a disproportionate amount of time and work. If the Deputy has a specific query regarding the local government audit service, this will, of course, be responded to in full.
