Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

John Gormley

Ceist:

533 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the representations, if any, he received from Blanchardstown district neighbourhood watch in relation to the provision of a Garda station; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7990/99]

I have received representations from Blanchardstown neighbourhood district watch who are critical of the siting and the accommodation provided at the new divisional headquarters station.

I am fully satisfied, as are Garda management, that the new station at Blanchardstown provides modern, spacious and pleasant accommodation for both gardaí and visiting members of the public. I am informed that local Garda management are satisfied that adequate office accommodation has been assigned to community gardaí, a matter specifically complained of by the neighbourhood watch group, and that there are ample facilities provided in the station for meetings between the gardaí and community groups.
