Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Ceist:

566 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he has received an application from a company (details supplied) concerning the need to develop an all weather facility in Tymon Park; if so, when he will sanction this scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8061/99]

An application for financial assistance under the sports capital programme has been received from the organisation in question. This is one of almost 1,900 applications and will be considered when the grant allocations for 1999 are being made in accordance with the criteria for awarding such grants as set out in the terms and conditions of the new programme.

Given the large number of applications and the level of work involved in evaluating them, I do not expect to be in a position to make final announcements on the 1999 round of grant allocations for some time yet.

Ceist:

567 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when he will announce the 1999 allocations under the sports capital programme; and if a club (details supplied) in County Mayo will be a recipient of this grant funding. [8083/99]

Michael Creed

Ceist:

568 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when a club (details provided) in County Cork which has been sanctioned for a grant for sporting facilities will receive payment. [8103/99]

A grant of £10,000 was allocated to the club in 1997 under the sports capital programme.

In line with standard procedures, payment of the grant is subject to the club providing specific documentation and information that the proposal complies with the terms and conditions of the programme. My Department wrote to the club on 8 March 1999 requesting the outstanding documentation required in order that the grant may be formally approved.
As soon as the information requested is received and found to be in order, payment of the grant will be made.
