Vol. 502 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Ceist:

575 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will investigate the possibilities of reopening the old national school or alternatively to build a new national school in Johnstown, Navan, County Meath, in view of the massive population increases experienced in the area over the past few years and future projections for the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7599/99]

I am aware that the Johnstown area of Navan, County Meath is experiencing population growth due to significant housing developments.

I have asked the planning section of my Department to carry out a review of the primary school accommodation requirements in the general Navan area. When this review is completed, a decision will be made as to whether additional school facilities are required.
