Vol. 502 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

85 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if plans for a Gaelscoil in Knocklyon are going ahead; and, if not, the reason his Department pulled back from this project which had wide local support. [8649/99]

A number of alternative sites have been identified for a Gaelscoil in Knocklyon and these are currently being assessed by the technical staff of my Department. When this assessment has been completed, the matter will be progressed further.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

86 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Gaelscoil Cholmcille, Whitehall, Dublin 9 is awaiting sanction by his Department for a proposed site in Santry and Kilmore, and if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that planning permission has recently been granted for the development of the rest of the site for a proposed leisureplex; and if he will arrange for early sanction of this move in order that the Gaelscoil does not lose its option on the site which cannot be held open indefinitely for them. [8650/99]

Correspondence has been received in my Department from Gaelscoil Colmcille, Whitehall, Dublin 9, outlining details of the proposed site in the Santry area.

Arrangements have been made for a member of my Department's technical staff to examine the site and when the report is to hand, the matter will be given further consideration.
