164 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the action, if any, he is taking to provide alternative employment in Midleton, County Cork, following the imminent closure of Universal Foods; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9107/99]
My Department continues to work closely with Enterprise Ireland with a view to obtaining an alternative enterprise for the Midleton facility. As indicated in a previous reply, discussions towards that end are taking place but at this stage it is essential that this process should not be prejudiced in any way. I remain hopeful that these discussions will be brought to a successful conclusion.
