Vol. 502 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

211 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children if the case of a person (details supplied) in County Waterford will be examined in relation to dialysis treatment; if he will ensure that this person will be provided with treatment at Waterford Regional Hospital which is less than 12 miles from his home; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8890/99]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Waterford in this instance is the statutory responsibility of the South-Eastern Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

212 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath will be admitted immediately for a necessary medical procedure to St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin 4; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8976/99]

The provision of medical treatment in this case is the responsibility of the voluntary hospital concerned in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the hospital to investigate this matter and to reply to the Deputy concerned as a matter of urgency.
