Vol. 502 No. 6

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

Noel O'Flynn

Ceist:

238 Mr. O'Flynn asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if an unmarried person co-habiting with another unmarried person may obtain a new house grant in his or her name, in spite of the fact that this person's partner has already owned a house, whether the partner has obtained a new house grant or not; and if this situation differs if these two people were married, in that the prior ownership of the house by one spouse would preclude the other spouse from obtaining a new house grant. [8820/99]

Subject to meeting the other conditions of the new house grant scheme, cohabiting persons may qualify for a new house grant on the same basis as a married couple provided neither party has previously built or purchased a house for their occupation.
