244 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received information on the dual envelope; his views on whether this envelope will significantly decrease the amount of waste; if he will promote this invention; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the product known as the dual envelope and I welcome such re-use initiatives, which clearly can have a beneficial impact on the generation of waste.
The Minister for the Environment and Local Government recently circulated samples of the dual envelope to other Ministers, and asked that the application of the concept be considered within each Government Department. The use of such envelopes has also been raised in the context of the pursuit of green housekeeping measures by Government Departments; my Department will continue to pursue the matter through appropriate interdepartmental fora.
