271 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the ad hoc advisory committees and groups in relation to policy or implementation, the statutory committees, permanent groups, interdepartmental groups, advisers, consultants and unestablished civil servants appointed in her Department; and the cost or remuneration in each case paid since July 1997 to date. With regard to the matter of advisory committees, groups, etc, I refer the Deputy to my replies to Questions Nos. 333 of 25 Samhain 1998 and 151 of 24 Márta 1999. Details regarding my special policy adviser and my press adviser were also contained in my reply to Question No. 151 of 24 Márta 1999.
With regard to consultants, I refer the Deputy to my replies to Questions Nos. 349 of 30 Meitheamh 1998 and 297 of 2 Feabhra 1999. The Deputy will note that the consultancies (excluding some low cost consultancies, generally involving expenditure not exceeding £5,000 each) were placed as a result of competitive tendering and, in that context, publication of the costs involved would be inappropriate.
With regard to unestablished civil servants appointed in my Department, I assume, from the context of the question, that the Deputy is referring to such staff employed in my office and that of the Minister of State at my Department. Relevant details are as follows:–
