Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

211 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has to support the provision of extra facilities at Scoil Uí Fiach, Maynooth, County Kildare; when he will provide the necessary resources for the provision of permanent facilities on a designated site; the extent of these facilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9539/99]

Scoil Ui Fhiaich, Maynooth, County Kildare was granted temporary recognition by my Department in April 1997. While operating with temporary recognition, a school must provide a temporary premises suitable for school use. Grant aid at the rate of 75 per cent is provided by my Department towards rental costs for such accommodation.

An application from the school for permanent recognition is being processed in my Department at present. It is only when permanent recognition has been granted that the school is entitled to claim capital grant-aid for the provision of permanent accommodation.
