Vol. 503 No. 2

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Review.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

55 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Defence if he will provide an update on the work of the interdepartmental task force on the management of the Curragh; the number of meetings this group has had to date; the number of submissions from the public or outside bodies received; if the group will produce an interim report; when he will receive the final report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9436/99]

To date, the interdepartmental task force on the future management and development of the Curragh has met on 21 occasions. A total of 28 submissions were received by the task force in response to advertisements that were placed in both national and local County Kildare-based newspapers. In February 1999 individuals and groups that made submissions were afforded an opportunity to make oral presentations to the task force in order to elaborate on their submissions. Twenty four of the groups involved were represented at that process.

I understand that the report of the task force will be presented shortly.
