Vol. 503 No. 2

Written Answers. - Charity Status.

John Bruton

Ceist:

176 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if he will grant full charitable status, particularly under section 32 of the Finance Act, 1984, to the Patrick Kavanagh Centre, Inniskeen, County Monaghan (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9514/99]

The Revenue Commissioners have confirmed that Inniskeen Enterprise Development Group, which I understand includes the Patrick Kavanagh Centre, was granted charitable status by the Revenue Commissioners in April 1993. The issue in question now appears to be approval for the centre under section 484 of the Taxes Consolidation Act, 1997 – formerly section 32 of the Finance Act 1984.

If the centre wishes to submit an up to date copy of its memorandum and articles of association to my Department the question of approval under section 484 can be examined.
