Vol. 504 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

152 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive 1998 suckler quota and headage payments. [12111/99]

The application under the 1998 cattle headage scheme of the person named was received in the local office of the Department on 29 October 1998. The closing date for receipt of applications was 29 May 1998, extended to 5 June 1998, with a late application period up to and including 30 June 1998. Under clause 18 of the terms and conditions of the 1998 cattle headage scheme, no headage grants are payable in respect of applications received after these dates.

The person named has a suckler cow quota of 32. No application was received under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme from the person named but as an exceptional measure I am arranging for an application under the October 1998 suckler cow scheme to be completed by him, on the basis that there may have been some confusion between submission of the 1998 cattle headage application received on 29 October 1998 and the October 1998 suckler cow scheme.

The person named was paid £496.00 on 3 July 1998, £245.04 on 22 October 1998 and £307.21 on 26 February 1999 under the 1998 ewe premium scheme. He was paid £446.20 on 1 October 1998 and £57.23 on 26 November 1998 under the 1998 sheep headage scheme. He was paid £184.00 on 17 December 1998 and £92.00 on 29 March 1999 under the 1998 winter fodder scheme.
The 1998 area aid application of the person named was submitted three days late, on 20 May 1998, so the 1998 ewe premium and sheep headage grants were subject to a late application penalty of 3 per cent, in accordance with clause 9.1 of the terms and conditions of the 1998 area aid scheme.
