Vol. 504 No. 4

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

239 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 118 of 31 March 1999 his views on whether the options available to persons who wish to change their next of kin for purposes other than succession and mental incapacity are adequate; the nature of any representations received in this regard; the action, if any, taken or proposed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11933/99]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 281 of 5 May 1999, in which I confirmed that while there are no proposals at present to introduce changes which impact on the law in relation to next-of-kin, the law is kept under review. Such review takes into account representations made to the Department from time to time.
