Vol. 504 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

141 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his response to the request from Dublin Corporation for funding to provide bathroom extensions to tenancy houses with no washing facilities. [12383/99]

The management, maintenance and improvement of their rented dwellings, including the provision of bathroom facilities, are the responsibility of local authorities. To assist them in providing bathroom-shower-toilets in their dwellings which lack them, funding is provided under the bathroom subprogramme operated by my Department. A sum of £4.845 million has been allocated to Dublin Corporation to date under the subprogramme. The planning and carrying out of work is a matter for the corporation.
