Vol. 504 No. 5

Written Answers. - Mortgage Lending.

David Stanton

Ceist:

95 Mr. Stanton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment further to Parliamentary Question No. 134 of 16 February 1999 the progress, if any, made with regard to the review of the Consumer Credit Act, 1995, in order to identify gaps in the protection of consumers in relation to the issue of unregulated mortgage lending; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12449/99]

The review of the Consumer Credit Act, 1995 is continuing. The Act is a very extensive piece of legislation and the review will take some time to complete. The issue of unregulated lending is one of a number of issues which are being looked at with a view to possible amendments to the Act.
