246 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if teaching hours will be allocated to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that her parents have to pay privately for grinds to assist her educational development. [13121/99]

My Department currently funds a range of vocational training centres which deliver programmes on literacy and numeracy to young adults with general learning disabilities under 25 years of age.

No application for such funding has been received from the centre to which the Deputy refers. However, I am arranging for a member of my Department's inspectorate to contact the management of the centre to see if a suitable pro gramme could be developed and supported by my Department.
