Vol. 505 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

John Perry

Ceist:

135 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if a person (details supplied) in County Sligo is entitled to a tax rebate; if he is in the correct tax bracket; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14502/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer is self-employed and is therefore liable to income tax under the self-assessment system. The taxpayer is also in receipt of PAYE income from an employment. The inspector of taxes will not be in a position to establish whether the taxpayer is due a refund of tax or is in the correct tax bracket until he receives the taxpayer's return of income for 1998-99.

The taxpayer's return of income for 1997-98 is currently outstanding and will also have to be submitted before his tax affairs can be clarified.
