Vol. 505 No. 6

Written Answers. - Meath Hospital Campus.

Frances Fitzgerald

Ceist:

171 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health and Children the situation regarding the purchase of the Meath Hospital by the Eastern Health Board; if negotiations with the board have been successful; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14539/99]

Frances Fitzgerald

Ceist:

172 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will outline the future use of the Meath Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14540/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 171 and 172 together.

The Deputy will be aware from my response to a previous similar question that the Meath Hospital was a voluntary hospital with full ownership of its premises. The hospital authorities propose to offer the site for sale and I have clarified previously to the Deputy that the Eastern Health Board has expressed an interest in acquiring the Meath Hospital campus.

The Deputy will appreciate that it would still be inappropriate for me to publicly comment further on the matter at this point in time.
