Ceist:

263 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if the detailed design and bill of quantities stages are being progressed together for the new community school, Trim, County Meath; if so, when stages four and five will be completed; when the contracts with the builders will be signed; when work will begin on the school; when the school will be opened; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14385/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 262 and 263 together.

Stage four, detailed design, and stage five, bill of quantities, for the proposed new community school at Trim, County Meath, have been completed by the design team.

Stage four has been approved, subject to a number of amendments, by officials of the building unit of my Department while stage five is currently being considered by my officials.

Arrangements have been made for placing a works contract notice in the EU official journal and for a tender notice in the national newspapers seeking contractors and sub-contractors who would wish to be considered for inclusion on selected lists from which tenders will be sought.
Regarding the question of temporary accommodation, the project design team has recently applied to the local authority for planning permission with a view to having the necessary accommodation in place before construction commences.
