399 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science if an application for financial subvention towards the completion of the Petersburg outdoor education centre in County Galway will be approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14913/99]
An application for financial subvention towards the further development of the Petersburg Outdoor Education Centre in County Galway has been received in my Department and is under consideration.
A working group, under the chairmanship of Mr. Tom Rice, was established to review the operation of outdoor education centres, which are owned and managed by vocational education committees. The report of the working group was presented to me on 12 January 1999. The report is being considered in my Department in regard to the development of future policies with regard to vocational education committee outdoor education centres. The position regarding the development work at Petersburg outdoor education centre will be considered in this general context.
