Vol. 507 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Brendan Kenneally

Ceist:

52 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when the world rural part of the ewe premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16173/99]

An input error was made when the application of the person named was being processed for payment. Consequently payment of the rural world premium was not made with the 1999 ewe premium. Arrangements are being made to have this payment made to the person named shortly.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

53 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not received payment in respect of 1998 ten and 22 month beef premia. [16192/99]

The person named submitted five applications for special beef premium, including an application in respect of 55 animals for the ten month and 39 animals for the 22 month scheme in November 1998.

The November applications were randomly selected for field inspection at which two animals on each application were found to be ineligible on age grounds. Full payment will issue in respect of all remaining eligible animals within the next week.

Full payment has issued in respect of all of his other 1998 special beef premium applications.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

54 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not received payment of a 1998 suckler grant. [16193/99]

The person named applied for premium under the 1998 suckler cow scheme on 31 October 1998 and indicated that he had a total of 35 cows in his herd. As a result of a discrepancy which arose in the case of one animal he was requested to produce evidence that the remaining animals were in his ownership and possession on the date of application. Payment can only be progressed if and when he submits satisfactory proof.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

55 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive payment of 1999 sheep livestock headage. [16202/99]

The person named was paid the first advance of the 1999 ewe premium on 23 June 1999.

Payments under the 1999 sheep headage scheme are scheduled to commence next September.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

56 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (detail supplied) in County Mayo did not receive payment under the first phase of the 1998 fodder aid scheme; and his entitlements under the scheme. [16203/99]

The person named received £300 on 31 March 1999 under the 1999 winter fodder scheme.

It has now been established that the lands declared by the person named on his 1998 area aid form are in designated electoral districts and, consequently, he has an entitlement to the 50 per cent top-up on fodder scheme payments. Payment of £150 will be made within two weeks.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

57 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason full 1997 suckler premium and headage payments were not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare in view of the fact that all errors were corrected and full payment was made for subsequent years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16229/99]

While the person named has a suckler cow quota for 24 cows, he applied on 20 suckler cows under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme and received payment in full, a 60 per cent advance of £1,682.76 was paid on 5 December 1997 and the balance of £1,121.84 on 14 May 1998.

The person named applied on 21 beef cows and four in-calf heifers under the 1997 beef cow scheme. One of the in-calf heifers had already been applied on as a cow and was therefore deleted without payment. The payment of £1,103.58, which issued on 5 December 1998 was based on 58.9 hectares in the less severely disadvantaged area out of a total of 96.1 hectares as declared in his 1997 area aid application.
