Vol. 507 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

67 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there is a wait of over 12 months before a child can see an eye specialist in Temple Street hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16208/99]

As the determination of patient appointments is a matter for the hospital authorities in the first instance, based on clinical assessment of need, I have asked the secretary-manager of Temple Street Hospital to investigate the position regarding ophthalmology patients and I have requested that he reply to the Deputy directly, as a matter of urgency.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

68 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Kildare will receive treatment for the removal of cataracts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16240/99]

The provision of treatment in this case is the responsibility, in the first instance, of the hospital concerned. The Deputy should, therefore, ascertain which hospital this patient is attending and then request the chief executive officer of that hospital to investigate this matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
