Ceist:

135 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if his Department will co-operate with other relevant bodies in the provision of a library, community centre and Garda station at Confey, Leixlip, County Kildare; the extent and success of this co-operation to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17095/99]

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

136 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Finance the progress to date in discussions with Kildare County Council in relation to the provision of a Garda station at Newtown, Leixlip; the timeframe for completion of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16836/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 134, 135 and 136 together.

The Commissioners of Public Works have agreed with Kildare County Council to construct a new Garda station in Leixlip as part of a joint development which will include a library and community centre.

The timing of the project is dependent on the local authority. The commissioners have been co-operating fully with the county council and will continue to do so.
