John McGuinness

Ceist:

112 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Finance the arrangements he has made for the public to view the Kilkenny flood relief scheme; the date of commencement of this; the location, times and procedure for the public to make comments; the timeframe involved for submissions; if his Department officials will be available to meet the public; the date by which the final plan has to adopted; the possible date of commencement of the work on the River Nore; and if he will give priority to the provision of a flood relief wall at John's Quay and an embankment at the pier of Green Street, Kilkenny. The general public and those affected by the proposed works have been invited to submit their observations to the Office of Public Works within one month of receiving their interference notices. As all observations submitted will need to be considered – which may lead to possible scheme alterations – it is not possible, at present, to provide a commencement date for works. The Office of Public Works will not be in a position to allocate priority to works on any particular stretch of the river until all observations have been considered and a commencement date for the execution of works has been agreed.
