171 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the amount of funding allocated to each local authority for regional and county roads for each of the years 1995 to 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17169/99]
Details of grant payments to local authorities for non-national roads for years 1995 and 1996 are contained in the booklet State Grant Payments to Local Authorities for National, Non-National and Non-Public Accommodation Roads and own resources expenditure by Local Authorities on National and Non-National Roads in the period 1989-1997 which is available in the Oireachtas Library.

172 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the amount of funding allocated to each local authority for sanitary provision, including water and sewerage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17170/99]
Except for the rural water programme, my Department does not make annual allocations to local authorities under the water and sewerage services investment programme. This programme is funded on an individual project basis, prioritised by reference to statutory obligations, EU directives, health and safety, environmental impacts and support of economic development. Details of the schemes being advanced under the investment programme and the rural water allocations to county councils for 1999 are available in the Oireachtas Library.
