Vol. 507 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

249 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will allow the provision of the proposed extra facilities at Maynooth post primary school to proceed; the precise nature, extent and timescale for the provision of these facilities; if he anticipates any delays in the developmental phases of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17116/99]

A stage 1 submission, site suitability, etc, is awaited from County Kildare Vocational Education Committee for the proposed extension to Maynooth post primary school. The proposed extension shall result in the provision of four general classrooms, demonstration room, special tuition room, guidance suite, PE hall with changing area and related ancillary accommodation.

At this early stage, I am not in a position to say when accommodation will be available. Equally, it is virtually impossible to predict the nature or extent of delays that may emerge as the project proceeds through architectural planning.
