[17120/99]

In May 1999, the post primary building unit of my Department authorised the invitation of tenders, subject to a number of amendments, for the proposed extension to St. Mary's College, Naas, County Kildare.

I understand that the schools design team awaits the submission of tenders. When the tender report and recommendation is received in my Department the question of authorising the placing of a contract for the project will be considered.

It is not possible at this stage to indicate when construction of this project will commence.
