Vol. 507 No. 4

Written Answers. - Company Closures.

Jan O'Sullivan

Ceist:

54 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the fact that a company (details supplied) in Shannon Industrial Estate is carrying out a review of its Irish operations which has given rise to fears that the Shannon plant might close; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that key personnel have left and the company has not responded in any meaningful way to requests for information from SIPTU; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16996/99]

I understand that Shannon Development recently met the US parent of the company in question. Indications were given that a corporate review of the parent's operations, including those at Shannon, is in progress and that the results of this review will not be available until late July. Shannon Development has indicated to local management its willingness to support the company in its deliberations with its US parent and is monitoring the situation.
