Ceist:

225 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the up to date position regarding the Bellacorrick power station in Ballina, County Mayo; if the Government has carried out a feasibility study in this regard; if so, when will this be ready; and the Government's position in relation to the closure of this plant. In my replies to parliamentary questions on this subject on 28 January and 17 November, 1998, I indicated that it was the intention of ESB to undertake a feasibility study around the year 2000 to determine the condition of the plant at Bellacorrick and assess the options for its future use. That remains the position.
