Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Ceist:

314 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) and have his full 1999 suckler cow payment processed; if he will make a favourable decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17720/99]

The person named applied on 12 cows under the 1999 suckler cow premium scheme on 28 May 1999.

One of the animals applied on was declared as a friesian breed and therefore would have no entitlement to payment under the regulations. In order to clarify the matter the applicant was written to on 25 August 1999 requesting him to produce documentation concerning the eligibility of the animal in question. He furnished the appropriate cattle ID and herd register which established that the animal was in fact a Hereford breed and was therefore acceptable. This claim has now been finalised for payment. However, in accordance with the regulations, payment may, not commence under the 1999 premium schemes until 1 November 1999.
