Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Ceist:

316 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo and have his 1998 headage payment released in view of the fact that he made an unintentional error; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17723/99]

The person named applied on 27 beef cows and four other animals under the 1998 cattle headage scheme. At an inspection on 18 September 1998 two of the cows applied on as beef cows – tag numbers UEA288187 and UEA858154 – were found to be friesians which do not qualify for the high rate of grant and consequently, in accordance with the terms and conditions governing the scheme, he was ruled out of the 1998 cattle headage scheme for one year. The person named appealed this decision to the independent headage and premia appeals unit where, while the case was fully re-examined, the decision was upheld.
